My Favorite Astronomical Event

Many people obviously know that stars explode when they reach the end of their life. What those many do not know is that this event is called a Supernova.
As I said, supernovae are events that occurs when a star exhaust itself of all of its fuels and then collapses on itself. This is so fascinating for me because supernovae look very awesome. Supernovae can literally be around 570 billion times brigher than the Sun. This is space, literally. Another type of supernova is a hypernova. Hypernovae are basically very energetic supernovas. They can be from 5 to 30 times more energetic than a standard supernova. Contrary to popular belief, the Sun will never go supernova. It simply isn't massive enough. A star would need around 8 to 15 solar masses, whereas 1 solar mass is the mass of the Sun. This means that, once the Sun burns all of its fuel, the Sun will just turn into a white dwarf.

Awesome Stuff about Supernovae

Talking about supernovae, a nebula will be formed after one. Probably the most well-known nebula is the Eagle Nebula. This is probably because of the famous Pillars of Creation. A picture of it was taken by the Hubble Telescope at a distance of 7,000 light years. This may sound like a lot, but the size of the universe is a lot bigger. The OBSERVABLE universe is around 93 billion light years long. Only 5% of the universe is visible, the remaining comes from dark matter and energy.

This is Eagle Nebula. In it are two famous objects. Can you spot the Pillars of Creation? They look like 3 pillars as seen from the other image. It looks very beautiful. Another fact about the Eagle Nebula is that it spans over 4 light years. Just compare a human to the size of that. There is another object in the Eagle Nebula called the "Stellar Spire". To be honest, I just like it more than the Eagle Nebula. It just looks more interesting to me than it. Just more unique in appearence.

What do you think of the Stellar Spire? Just one glance at it made me sway over to it. These two structures are what made the Eagle Nebula pretty famous. Heck, the Eagle Nebula can barely be seen by those with very good eyesight. It has an apparent magnitude of 6 which is just on the edge. Look for it and get your telescope. It is very worth it to just take a glance at it.
